Senses Spa and Salon on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy

Luxury awaits when you visit Senses Spa and Salon aboard the Disney Dream or the Disney Fantasy. The spa is located in the forward section of decks eleven and twelve. Your senses will be awakened as you experience many different treatments suited to your needs. Disney Cruise Line has even thought of pleasing couples in a spa setting by offering luxurious Spa Villas...more about that later. They even offer teeth whitening in the Smile Spa, a spa for teens at Chill Spa and even a barber shop for men.

Although there are opportunities to book treatments on board the ship, it's best to book ahead of time through www.disneycruiseline.com, just log into your reservation when your booking window opens up and head over to the Planning Center. For Platinum Castaway Club members the booking window is 120 days prior to sailing, for Gold Castaway Club members the booking window is 105 days prior to sailing and for Silver Castaway Club members the booking window is 90 days prior to sailing. Salon treatments have to be booked on board after 1:00 p.m. on day one of sailing. It's best to do so on the first day to avoid disappointment.

Always check the ships Personal Navigator for specials on Spa Treatments when the ship is docked or near the end of the cruise, there are usually some very enticing deals.  Please note that salon services must be booked while on the ship anytime after 1:00 p.m. on the first day of your cruise.

Senses Spa and Salon offers many types of salon services such as hair cuts, blow outs, styling, manicures and pedicures as well as offering men a traditional barber shop for their needs.

The spa offers many professional treatments such as facials, body wraps, massages and aromatherapy. I will outline the layout of the spa later on in this post.

Senses also offers private pampering in the Luxurious Villas which boast private villas containing private suites, verandahs, whirlpools, outdoor showers, and even a canopy bed in open air. I don't think I would ever leave having experienced this pampering for an afternoon.

An industry first, once again with Disney Cruise Line is the spa offered to teens. It's called the Chill Spa, appropriately named in my humble opinion. Located in Senses Spa and Salon, the Chill Spa offers teens manicures, massages and facials. They'll come out all relaxed and 'chilled'. That's a very good thing.

It's no wonder the spa takes up two levels, it offers so many luxurious areas and is so expansive you'll feel as if you're occupying the entire ship. Firstly, the decor is soothing and instantly relaxes you with its colours of blue, green and brown accented with lavish wood. It has seventeen treatment rooms, two Luxury Villas, the beautiful Rainforest Room with three different areas, one being the steam bath called the Hamam, the steam room called the Caldarium and the dry sauna called the Laconium. In addition, there is the Smile Spa for teeth whitening, showers, locker areas, private change rooms.

Enjoy a plush robe and slippers while there along with a complimentary non-alcoholic beverage, and a beauty room with items for sale.

With the exception of the Chill Spa for teens, one has to be eighteen years of age and older to enjoy the benefits and pampering of the Senses Spa and Salon.

Dumbo and Timothy Mouse

"The characters Dumbo and Timothy Mouse on the Disney Fantasy’s stern weigh in at more than 2,300 pounds. Dumbo is a little over eight feet long from head to tail with an “ear span” of seven feet. Timothy Mouse sits 2’6″ tall on Dumbo’s hat and is holding a paint brush that’s about 3’10″ long. Dumbo was sculpted from large foam blocks by Walt Disney Imagineering artists in Glendale, California. The sculpted pieces were then shipped to Florida where Disney craftsmen and artists created him in fiberglass and paint over a frame of marine-grade stainless steel. The duo was installed in Papenburg, Germany." (Source: DCLNews.com)
